BAE SystemsAs part of the rationalisation of their operations, BAE Systems moved into to this 230,000sq ft purpose built research and development facility at Capability Green. Designed by Scott Brownrigg it provides BAE with a two storey laboratory and testing facility with a separate four-storey atrium office building to accommodate 1,000 engineering and support staff. At the heart of the working environment is a 4 storey atrium structure containing all the main circulation and communal facilities. The design provides an exemplar solution in terms of functionality and innovation with the future proofing to meet the changing requirements and demands of a state of the art research and development facility. The project accommodates specialised laboratory, R&D and testing equipment, as well as incorporating bespoke design features including a two storey meeting pod suspended within the atrium volume.
