Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery relocation
Scott Brownrigg is providing full architectural and planning services for the new carbon neutral £16m home for the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery at Woolwich. The new facilities, located on a historically significant military site, will become operational when the regiment relocates from their existing home in St John’s Wood in 2011.
Providing stabling and full supporting facilities for 170 horses, along with the Troop's historic gun carriages, the development incorporates extensive indoor and outdoor equine training facilities. These facilities will run on fuel pellets created from horse manure and bedding, which will produce enough bio-fuel to supply the needs of the entire development. Uniquely these new facilities will produce an excess of fuel pellets enabling surplus production to be sold on to other local users.
