Amathus Beach Hotel, Rhodes, GreeceAmathus Beach Resort, Rhodes is the third property within the Amathus Group portfolio that Scott Brownrigg has been commissioned to design. Our brief was to prepare a concept design for the roof terrace, bar and restaurant. The restaurant design involves visually linking the two levels of the existing bland restaurant by creating a long, linear aquarium built into the floor. This allows natural light to penetrate to the lower level, with fish and water creating a dramatic play of reflecting light . We were also appointed to rebrand the newly completed luxury suites located in a separate annex, each with a private plunge pool. The existing white ceramic tile covered terraces lacked style and energy; we therefore introduced a palette of natural materials including timber, slate and limestone to create a more intimate ambience suitable for these secluded, luxury suites.
