Town Planning has formed an integral element in the services offered by Scott Brownrigg since 1984.  As part of an integrated design practice, our specialist town planning team is in a unique position, possessing an understanding and knowledge of the working practices of different disciplines - architecture, masterplanning, urban design and interior design; this has specifically contributed to the development of a creative and visionary approach to town planning.

In 2011, we won the RTPI Small Consultancy of the Year award, which recognises exemplary practice.  The judges noted that: ‘robust procedures and professional judgement ensure high standards of advice to clients.  Scott Brownrigg Planning shows innovation in community engagement, considering a range of communities and undertaking education on the planning policies’.

Offering the full spectrum of town planning services, we provide leading edge planning expertise across major sectors.  We have worked on some of the largest residential schemes in London and the South East, including Chelsea Bridge Wharf (1,126) units), Whitelands College (400 units), Brunel University (450 units) and Farnham East Street (294 units).  Negotiations with Local Planning Authorities, the GLA and housing associations on these schemes has resulted in the delivery of new housing and affordable housing.  Whilst we also have unrivalled experience in the education sector, securing planning permission for 31 schools and colleges in the last four years.

We have specific expertise in the City of London, headed up by the City Corporation’s former Policy Director.  This gives us a unique insight into the policy, politics and opportunities in the City, and provides us with excellent relationships with City Corporation Officers.

Extensive experience of achieving planning permissions for the large scale regeneration of brownfield sites is another strength.  Often complex in nature, with a large number of site constraints and interested parties involved, our patience, flexibility and deep understanding of planning law ensures consents are achieved that successfully meet the needs of all the key stakeholders. 

In managing extensive public consultations on the East Street, Farnham scheme and working with the developer, council and in-house regeneration and heritage specialists, we have delivered a planning consent that will create a vibrant extension to the town centre.  Whilst the planning consents achieved for Hatfield Aerodrome, formerly the largest regeneration scheme (324 hectares) in Europe, has led to the team continuing to provide long term strategic advice to the developer, Goodman.

Our value stems from advising on strategic planning issues, to guiding the overall delivery strategy for a scheme, together with detailed knowledge of development planning which ensures planning applications are prepared, submitted and negotiated efficiently and effectively.  Our full range of services from delivering initial feasibility studies to acting as expert witnesses at public inquiries can be offered flexibly, sometimes as individual planning solutions, sometimes as part of a fully integrated package alongside other specialist services.
