Whitelands College, PutneyScott Brownrigg was appointed by Nicholson Estates and Whitelands College Foundation to carry out the master planning, town planning and architectural design for the redevelopment of a 5.4 hectare site at Whitelands College in Putney, one of the largest residential sites in London. The mixed u development provides 132 luxury apartments through the renovation and conversion of existing buildings that include the 1930s Grade II listed main school building and gate lodge designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and the listed Italianate Forest Lodge Villa. London Borough of Wandsworth granted planning permission, listed building consent and conservation area consent for the development following submission of a detailed planning application which involved our team producing an Environmental Statement. Extensive pre- and post-application consultations with local residents, amenity groups, London Borough of Wandsworth, the Mayor of London and Sport England were important to ensure the approval of the scheme.
