Romsey Road

Kier Property proposes to invest £60 million in Southampton by redeveloping the Ordnance Survey site. The 9.7 hectare site is situated on Romsey Road. Scott Brownrigg worked in consultation with the client, council and local community to provide a comprehensive regeneration offer for the Romsey Road site.

Scott Brownrigg authored and submitted the Sustainability Statement for the planning application.  The sustainable design of the scheme was assessed using the Code for Sustainable Homes methodology (for the residential element) and BREEAM for the industrial and office elements.

The key elements of the application were:

• a new business enterprise centre (2,787sqm);
• a new light/ general industrial unit (7,432sqm);
• A new local shopping and food and drink facilities (1,226sqm);
• a new nursing home (circa 72 beds);
• new veterinary/doctors surgery/ clinic;
• a new public park with a new children’s play area; and
• 466 new residential homes.
