Hertford Street

Scott Brownrigg was appointed to prepare and submit applications for Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for the internal alteration of a Grade I listed building at 10 Hertford Street, W1.  The listed building notice describes the building as “a fine interior designed by Robert Adam in 1769-71, with enriched and painted plaster ceilings and mouldings and an elegant stone staircase”.

The alterations presented an opportunity to restore and repair the building and bring it back to its original residential use, whilst removing intrusive post-war additions, mainly in connection with the former office use.  The project involved extensive research via published literature and information available at the Soane Museum, as well as consultation with the Council’s Conservation Officer, English Heritage and the Georgian Group.
