LABC Awards 2013
Chilton Trinity School in Somerset won the Best Education Development category at the LABC Regional Awards for the South West.
The scheme was nominated for the award by the local building control authorities in Somerset, who worked closely with Scott Brownrigg and BAM Construction during the project.
The Awards are all about the essence of good buildings, where the finalists are judged on the excellence shown from a construction and technical building control point of view. The awards showcase buildings and design teams that have had to tussle with technical issues, difficult sites, innovative and creative solutions.
The school has proven to be very popular with the students and staff who moved in in November 2012. Assistant Head Teacher Gareth Williams said:
‘Our students and staff were open mouthed when we occupied it for the first time, and since our move in November 2012 we continue to be delighted with the superb design, accommodation and facilities. Parents and visitors have also remarked on the quality of the new school building, facilities and landscaping.’
The school faced strong competition from other established practices and is now shortlisted for the National Awards which take place in November.
