What House? Awards 2013

The Villa at Kings Park, Harold Wood, designed by Scott Brownrigg has won the silver award at the What House? Awards, for ‘Best House’ category.

The awards are judged by a panel of property experts, from architects to property writers.  Now in their 32nd year, the What House? Awards are the Oscars of the housebuilding industry, rewarding the very best achievements from Britain's housebuilders.

The What House? Awards judges commented: “This is a fantastic house. Countryside has a reputation for focusing on design and its architect, Scott Brownrigg, has excelled itself here. This property achieves many things: it has great kerb appeal, it has a sophisticated and adventurous ground-floor plan as well as a very impressive master suite, it has a specification that ticks all the boxes for a sustainable house. A great award winner.”

The Villa combines unique contemporary architecture with traditional materials to provide visual interest and textural diversity. Constructed of yellow brick with white render and timber style boarding, contrast is added through glass balustrades and roof slates to create an arresting home.

The luxury four bedroom houses offer 2,200 sq ft of living space arranged over three floors, and is one of the first house types to complete on the 12.7 hectare scheme.

The house was also highly commended in the Best Family Home category of the Evening Standard New Homes Awards earlier this year.
