Director Una Barac to speak at this years Sleep Event

Following Scott Brownrigg’s success in clinching the accolade for Best Room Design at last year’s Sleep Event with the design for Shaded White bedroom, hospitality director, Una Barac will be presenting at this year’s event.

Speaking as part of the ‘Out with the old, in with the new’ session which takes place on day 2 of the conference on Thursday 21 November, Una will be discussing how hotel refurbishment is currently the single biggest opportunity for designers.

Una will be presenting alongside Dennis Irvine from Fox Linton and Jeremy Robson from RAM;  Stirling Johnstone from GS Magazine will be moderating.

Una is currently responsible for a number of hotel and resort projects both within the UK and across Eastern Europe, working at all levels of the design process, from the feasibility and architectural stages through to the interior design and fit-out. The practice is currently working on projects for the Hilton, Marriott, Park Plaza, Mercure, Novotel as well as several boutique unbranded hotels and resorts.
The practice’s winning design ‘Shaded White’ at last year’s Sleep Hotel provided a stunning 23 sq m, five star, city centre hotel room, and was praised by judges, Javier Hortal, Project Leader EMEA at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Khirstie Gunn-Myles, Head of Design and Engineering at IHG and Conrad Smith, Managing Director at ReardonSmith Architects for its “intelligent layout”, “use of space” and “timeless design”,  together with its “functionality and customer focus”.
