Eden House completed
Eden House, the final piece in the Spitalfields Market Development Area jigsaw has been completed. Designed by architectural practice Scott Brownrigg for Royal London Asset Management, Eden House directly responds to a number of important site constraints including rights of light, sunlight and daylight, archaeology (Roman and medieval) and impact on the Central Line London Underground line. In addition the design reflects the different streetscapes that each elevation addresses.
To the south Eden House responds to the City with a glass façade, striking seamless glass cube entrance, unique diachronic feature glass sculpture in reception and a floating woven stainless steel mesh brise soleil, the latter acting as sun shading as well as providing visual layering. On the north and east elevations, which face Georgian residential buildings, the glass is reduced and bands of natural limestone are used to give the building a reduced scale more appropriate to the residential street scene.
