Quintiles' new EMEA Headquarters at 500 Brook Drive, Green Park, Reading last night won the BCO Fit Out of Workspace category at the BCO Regional Awards for the South West of England, Thames Valley and South Wales.

Judges commented that the “design took something exceptional and made it better”.

Designed by Scott Brownrigg Interior Design,  the fit out was completed in just 16 weeks and provides an inspirational and sustainable workplace for Quintiles, consolidating their staff from three Bracknell offices, into the 121,350 sq ft BREEAM ‘Excellent’ building.  Currently accommodating 550 Quintiles employees, the fit out supports dynamic working in both open plan workstations and cellular hot offices.  It incorporates many specialist facilities such as a business lounge, an executive and boardroom suite, client conference and meeting suite, a telepresence videoconferencing room, staff training facilities and a 200 seat restaurant with external terrace,

The focal point of the building is the spectacular full height linear atrium, which incorporates striking sky boxes designed as part of the fitting out, that create further break out and meeting spaces which cantilever out into the atrium from various levels.

The project team consisted of; project managers, Cushman& Wakefield; M&E consultants, Chapman Bathurst; cost consultants, Bingham Anderson, and main contractor, Overbury.

Andrew Szanto, Senior Director Real Estate for EMEA led the Quintiles Project Team, and played a key role in bringing the project to fruition.

Szanto said:  “We are delighted that our new Headquarters has won this prestigious BCO Award.  This recognition really reflects how this exceptional building has been effective at bringing our people together. The stunning and inspirationally designed interior has had a very positive impact on staff and our clients.  Feedback from staff has been great, use of collaborative spaces is high, and there have been multiple opportunities for new connections to be made across our business lines.  We are proud to host both customers and international Quintiles executives here.”

Ken Giannini, Director of Scott Brownrigg Interior Design, who led the design said:  “It is fantastic that the Quintiles Headquarters has won the Regional BCO Fit Out award.  From day one, our client and the entire professional team set out to achieve something quite special and give the Quintiles people a new home to be proud of.  It’s a real credit to the team that we have been recognised by the BCO with this prestigious award.   I am also very pleased that Scott Brownrigg has, as a practice, designed and delivered a truly holistic award winning building and fit out.”

Mike Mortimer Quintiles Chief Administrative Officer and Chairman of its EMEA board said:  “We had great expectations and a tight timeline for the fit-out to ensure we could move in on our desired date.  The entire team responded to the challenge and performed extremely well. We are delighted with the results and grateful to the BCO for this award.”
