Scott Brownrigg completed this £37m nine-storey office development project for Viridis Real Estate, on behalf of client investors, situated in the heart of the mid-town district between the City and the West End, London. The practice provided architectural services from RIBA Stages C-L, including interior design and compliance monitoring. The design approach aimed to balance the requirements of an efficient contemporary office environment with the enhancement of the urban qualities of the Chancery Lane Conservation area. The design acknowledges both the historic and flamboyant context of Chancery Lane, and the more modest qualities of Breams Buildings. The aim was to make a coherent and legible whole of the entire perimeter, and to develop a synergy between the existing and the new elevations. The new facade blends into the retained facade via a transitional bay, which serves as a visual punctuation between the 'old' and 'new.
