DTZ, City of London
DTZ’s new office at 125 Old Broad Street consolidates the majority of their London staff into a single location. The practice won a limited design competition to develop the concept design for the key client-facing areas including meeting and break-out spaces. DTZ is one of the 'big four' global real estate advisers and wanted its City of London corporate workplace to underline the perception of its brand as a market leader. The design concept that was created builds a strong sense of presence and is based upon the London 'streetscape'; in effect a story related to DTZ's business. This proposed a combination of formal gridded spaces for the office areas and a relaxed, informal layout for the main client-facing spaces. From a central arrival point on the first floor, winding 'streets' radiate out to meeting rooms, breakout spaces, an auditorium and a client lounge. The 'cityscape' theme continues in the geometry of the café lounge and informal spaces on the second floor; this area is conceived as an internal 'marketplace', providing a venue for in-house meetings and touchdown for staff from other offices.
