Elder Place, Brighton
This 11 hectares (27 acres) town centre, retail driven regeneration project attempts to re-integrate the Lanes to the north of Brighton, reconnecting the original main retail area of London Road with the wider city centre. The aim is to create a vibrant new retail intervention to act as a 'gateway' into Brighton, re-establishing the city as one of the premier destinations in the south of England. The scheme will substantially enlarge the current retail heart of Brighton, encapsulating the entire London Road corridor and invigorating new retail and leisure activities in the area. It will provide a 16,722 sq m (180,000 sq ft) major new department store, over 450 residential units, commercial and retail space, plus an underground car park for 950 cars.
