Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, Woolwich
Morgan Sindall/ MoD
Working with Morgan Sindall, Buro Happold, RPS Group (Landscape) and KWA equine consultants, the design for the new carbon minus home for the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery at Woolwich provides stabling and full supporting facilities for 140 horses, as well as the troop’s historic WWI guns and carriages. Energy generated from horse manure and bedding creates enough bio-fuel to supply the needs of the whole development. Accommodation comprises new administration/office block, stable lines with associated workshops/stores, barn, pharmacy, forge, indoor and outdoor riding school, gun park with associated MT facilities and external exercise and forming up/training areas. Planning permission and conservation area consent were gained by Scott Brownrigg's planning team, following a successful pre-application and public engagement process.
