The Brief

Cambridge Science Park is repositioning as a leading global technology hub. We were briefed to design a landmark speculative office building that would act as a catalyst and set the benchmark for future development on the park. To target potential science and technology occupiers. The building was subsequently let to gaming company Frontier Developments.

Concept

Our design, awarded BREEAM Excellent, places the building on a landscaped podium, over under-croft parking. This provides an impressive arrival experience for clients and staff. Our three-storey design incorporates a full height atrium and column free working spaces. Façade materials create a sleek and minimal appearance.

Features

The atrium features a ‘projecting staircase’ which is cantilevered from circulation bridges. Whilst we have achieved a twist in the façade by using post-tensioned reinforced concrete structure that permits extended cantilevers to the entrance elevation.
