The Brief

Meridian Water Station is a new station in London Borough of Enfield. It forms an integral part of a regeneration programme. Our brief was to enhance proposals by others to obtain CABE and planning approvals and to develop designs through Network Rail GRIP process to completion.

Concept

We worked to understand the place and identify the station's role within the wider context. We enhanced earlier proposals and responded to CABE by introducing transparency, attention to detail and the use of materials. Quality and programme benefits were delivered through offsite fabrication.

Features

The application of large scale pre-fabricated structural elements over an existing operational railway line assisted the construction programme. A dramatic floating roof and flanking campanile features act as a beacon in the landscape. The station allows step-free access and a 24-hour public right of way over the railway while making passive provision for Crossrail 2.
