Combining Omani and International Schools Design Standards to provide, as part of a multi-cycle programme comprising 42 schools, a range of elementary, intermediate, and secondary schools throughout all regions in Oman. The design brief was developed around the Omani Ministry of Education’s focus on pattern procurement, where modulation, repeat form, and standardisation across their estate support the doctrine of making a fewer number of decisions very well. This results in a consistent, harmonised, and educationally progressive estate across the whole of Oman.
All schools, regardless of cycle, were to follow the same formal concept. The designs (Optimised Concept Reference Designs) were conceived to deliver a series of education pavilions around the central heart of the school: the central assembly courtyard.
Core design principles have been integrated into the Optimised Concept Reference Designs to create healthy and safe environments that directly support advancement in educational attainment for all learners. These include open air assembly areas, agile adaptable learning space wings, optimised levels of natural daylight, adherence to international air quality standards, dedicated Civil Defence and FM access corridors to facilitate 24/7/365 operation, masterplans focused on safety with separation of vehicles and people, and design concepts that fully enhance the potential of procurement economy through standardisation, modularity, and repeatability.
Let's start a conversation.
