Our Digital Bootcamp returned for a third year, welcoming another group of architecture students into our London studio in July to explore how digital tools and collaborative thinking are shaping the future of design.

Part of our wider Future Talent Programme, the Bootcamp gives undergraduate students practical experience of digital workflows used across live architectural projects. Over the course of the programme, students worked alongside our digital specialists, mentors and industry partners, developing their technical skills while gaining valuable insight into practice.

This year's programme was delivered with the support of Symetri and BNAMICS, whose training and expertise helped students explore new technologies, test different approaches and build confidence in applying digital design tools to real project challenges. Pierre Vogel from Symetri played a key role in supporting the programme from the opening sessions through to the final presentations.

The 2026 design brief centred on reimagining the façade of our Infinity Labs project at the University of Southampton Science Park (USSP), giving students the opportunity to develop creative responses informed by digital design methods. Their work culminated in final presentations held in our London studio, where they shared their proposals with a panel including Amy Bourne, Associate Project Leader, Juan Carlos Venegas from BNAMICS, Dagmar Binsted, Associate, and our student mentors.

What makes the Digital Bootcamp valuable isn't simply learning new software. It's the opportunity to collaborate, ask questions, receive constructive feedback and understand how digital thinking supports better design outcomes. The programme encourages curiosity, experimentation and confidence - qualities that are just as important as technical ability.

The long-term impact of the programme is already evident. This year, two of our original Digital Bootcamp students, Ben and Odin, are now part of our own project teams, demonstrating how the Future Talent Programme continues to nurture emerging talent and strengthen the profession.
