The Brief

We were appointed to develop existing early design options for step free access schemes at three London Underground stations. This involved Listed Building and/ or Planning Consents and integrated and co-ordinated For Construction packages to enable Morgan Sindall to deliver the projects.

Concept

With our knowledge of the London Underground environment and its systems and processes, we proposed a scalable and deliverable solution, adaptable for all surface London Underground stations. Our proposals were developed in conjunction with the London Underground Design Governance Board and various Local Authority Conservation Officers.

Features

Using a masonry cladding system, we have reduced critical overall dimensions and made significant reductions to the construction programme. Its small scale modularity has allowed for site adaptation whilst improving and complementing adjacent Grade II listed fabric. Designs required extensive coordination with structural/ civil engineers and the framework lift manufacturer.
